About EDNET in Kings County 1996 – 1997
Under the former Kings County District School Board,
the "Connecting School and Communities" project was begun.
Its purpose is to connect all schools in the District (Kings County)
to the Department of Education and Culture's Ednet, and through
this gateway to the Internet.
The project is presently underway and the first installation was
completed at the Teachers' Centre, New Minas, on May 8, 1996...
Several schools are presently "up and running", including:
West Kings High School
Aldershot Elementary School
Cornwallis District High School
Central Kings Rural High School
Kings County Academy

Note: On 1 August 1996, Nova Scotia's 21 district school boards
and one conseil d'ecole were amalgamated by the provincial
government into six regional boards and one conseil scolaire
acadien provincial.
At that time, "the former Kings County District School Board"
became part of the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board.
The Teachers' Centre was located in the former Highbury
Elementary School building on Highbury Road in New Minas.
